ABOUT

Hi there. We’re Franz and Steve - two friends from New York that design and build games together.

  • Steve Robbins

    Lead Designer / Co-Creator

Hi, I'm Steve and I designed the game. This is my first release as a game designer, but far from the first game I've designed. I grew up with lots of board games. Starting with classics like Risk and Monopoly then expanding out to more complicated games like Axis and Allies and Fireball Island. I Started designing my own games in middle school, including a fantasy versions of Tatics II (a game my Dad grew up playing). I ended up going to film school and having a career in the entertainment and live event industries, but I never stopped playing and thinking about games, although my focus had switched to computer games. Like a lot of folks, Settlers of Catan got me back into boardgames and the boxes have been stacking up ever since. Then in 2013, I started turning a story I wrote into a computer game as a hobby and my programmer friend Jason suggested I make a boardgame version first as it would cost less to prototype. What followed was so much cardboard and sharpies. Over the years I developed that initial story as well as tinkering and play testing some new ideas. So I'll go ahead and publicly thank all my friends I have subjected to my prototypes over the years... Thanks y'all!
One of those friends was Franz! In 2019 we decided to take his visual world of Robots vs Dinosaurs and turn it into a game! After many prints and even more playthoughs, I am thrilled to see people playing our finalized prototype!

  • Franz Palomares

    Lead Artist / Co-Creator

Hi, I'm Franz and I came up with the story/idea for the game based on some of my own artwork. I've been working as an animator and illustrator for over 20 years. I try to draw as much as I can. I spend a lot of time posting random drawings to my instagram account (@franzpalomares). My animation heros were the guys from early Warner Bros. cartoons -- Tex Avery, Bob Clampet & Ub Iwerks to name just a few. My style can best be described as fun with just a hint of darkness.
About 15 years ago I did a drawing featuring a robot and a dinosaur fighting. I knew I loved the idea so I went ahead and purchased the website www.robotsvsdinosaurs.com. For much of that time, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with this idea. Would I make an animated short? Or a video game? But then I started to realize that I wanted to do something that would bring people together and make for real world fun. I realized a printed card game was the direction that I wanted to go. I knew I had the basis of a fun game, but I didn't know how to turn it into a game.
That's when I met Steve. I had a chance to play a board game that he had developed. I knew right away that if I could convince him to work with me, we could bring this game to life. We've spent the last few years developing a game that has exceeded my expectations.
I really hope you will enjoy this game as much as I've enjoyed developing it and playing it myself.
